We are a small multi-generational family hobby farm located just outside Mitchell, Manitoba. We have many different animals who call our farm home, including our small herd of registered myotonic and miniature silky fainting goats.
2026 has started off with a bang! Every February Terry and I head off to Belize for some R&R before our kidding season starts. We call it “the calm before the storm”. Well this year “the storm” started without us!
On October 5th, 2025 Northstar Gems Meeko let himself into our doe pasture a few weeks ahead of our regular scheduled breeding season. We are pretty particular with our breeding start date as we don’t want any kids arriving prior to our return from holidays.
Let’s do the math: break in date + 150 days gestation = babies before we get home eek!
One thing Terry and I have learned over the last few years is that it sometimes takes a village with our busy schedules to get things done and care for our animals. I just want to acknowledge our farm manager Mallory and farm hand Bryce who handled it ALL while we were away! Even our kids stepped in to help during the nights when needed!
We came home to 15 healthy beautiful babies and some tired friends. We appreciate you!
